Specialized Tools
Specialized tools, every shop has them. Have you ever went shopping for a table that you need a specific height? Maybe a book case that fits into a very particular spot in your house. You make some concession in the process. I don’t like the color, but its the only thing tall enough. This has enough shelf space but I don’t really like the look of it.
It isn’t a stretch to image, pits the same thing in a shop. I wanted a welding cart that was big enough for my particular wire feeder. But I also needed it to be as tall as my welding table. Most of the store bought carts, while they aren’t outfight flimsy, that aren’t the definition of strength. Most are made to carry the gas cylinder along too and are bulky.
Something like this is fairly common.
I wanted it built to my particular dimensions. I also wanted it as strong as a tank, while keeping a small footprint. The floor space in my tiny shop is like gold. I have no extra space to waste.
Custom Welding Cart
I did the steel fab on this before I was better about taking pictures. All we get is three photos from when the build was completed. I’d normally try walking you through the steps it took to get to this point. But I’ll save you the play the play considering there aren’t any pictures to accompany it.
The moral of this if there is one. I never would have found a cart that did exactly what this one does. I would of had to compromise on something if I would have purchased one already built. I have one exactly the height, width, and depth that I need. It is built to last 100 lifetimes. Each castor wheel for instance is rated for 300 lbs. I am confident the cart itself will hold the 1,200 lbs the castors can take.
You aren’t going to run to the store and buy a cart that can do this. I don’t care how much money you throw at it.
