I cropped this photo because my feet just shouldn’t be included in my terrible photography! This was my first attempt at color fill, and while I really like the results it needs just a tiny bit of refinement. This is two pieces of steel welded together. The cutout of course being on the top plate, and a silhouette of the overall shape is the back piece. Rosette (plug) welds hold the two together. A nice heavy layer of clear coat goes over everything to even out the different sheens. It looks really good, and they will only get better from here!
I got the idea because there really isn’t any shortage of steel sign makers out there. Go to etsy or something similar and everyone and their brother is cutting steel signs. Promptly drilling them with powder coat or spray paint and calling it done. I want to do things that stand out, that make you wonder, and that aren’t being done by everyone. So this beauty is rocking 6 different colors not including the clear coat layer.
The alternative was this bugger right here.
